Holy Roar

Everytime I hear Chris Tomlin has a new album coming out I worry that there is no way songs will sound new and different.  So I apprehensive when I was asked to review his latest, Holy Roar.  But man, he just keeps them coming bigger and better.  I absolutely love the opener, "Holy Roar"...it's poignant...it will make it's mark.

You may have already heard "Resurrection Power" on the radio - I think that title released a bit earlier and it's catchy and a powerful reminder of our freedom in Christ.

And don't miss "Satisfied" - another favorite track on this album.  Tomlin has a good thing going - his songs speak to the soul and remind us of the greatness of our God.  And his latest is NO exception!

Glory Song

Matt Redman's latest album, Glory Song, is one of my new favorite albums.  Redman is a master of worship.  His songs are full of variety but focus on the Lord.  There were so may songs on this album that I enjoyed that I could go song-by-song.  But I will list a few that hit me as I've been listening.

"One Day (When we all get to Heaven) is an amazing song that brings to life a song I grew up on "When we all get to Heaven."  Love the new rendition!

The following song, "Redemption Ground" is another that spoke to me and continues to as well.  What a touching, deep song with words that resonate on so many levels.

This album is the first thing that turns on when I listen now - I listen daily and still have moments when I am spoken to deeply.  I highly recommend this thoughtful album - it will speak to your soul.

Kari Jobe - The Garden

A new Kari Jobe CD is out!!!  Pause for a moment of joyful celebration!

And it's all I hoped it would be and more!
I have some favorites off the album already -

"Let Your Glory Fall" is WONDERFUL!  It is meditative and uplifting - and catchy....I find myself singing the words throughout my day. "Let your glory fall...overwhelm my soul."

"Heal our Land" is a tender cry for more of His mercy and revival in our land.  "Breathe on your church, pour out your presence, speak through your word."

"Speak to Me" could be my daily prayer - "Speak to me, I'm listening."

Don't miss the simplicity and yet the deep truths in Jobe's lyrics - I resonated with so much in this album - it is powerful!

Children of God

Phil Wickham's latest album, Children of God, is SUPERB!  DO NOT MISS this new album!

"Doxology" is an amazing rendition of the Doxology we all know and love.  I love the way he makes it his own.

"Spirit of God" is a track that inspires worship and yet is catchy and upbeat.
"Your Love Awakens Me" is a track I sing repeatedly throughout the day - it's a great new song!
One of my stand-outs on the album is the tender track, "Starmaker" - LOVE the background vocals and worship of the song.  Amazing!

Salvation's Tide is Rising

Passion is one of those projects that continually puts out high quality music projects.  Their latest, Salvation's Tide is Rising, is another album that just amazes me at their high commitment to excellence.  Song after song raises the bar for not only Christian music in general, but for worship music at its best.

What is Passion?  It is "Rooted in the confession of Isaiah 26:8, Passion exists to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation.  From its start in 1995, the Passion Movement has had a singular mission--calling students from campuses across the nation and around the world to live for what matters most.  This yearly conference uses live worship music and teaching to encourage young people to live for the glory of God.  In 1998, Passion decided to document the musical portion of the annual conferences via live worship recordings -- raw, in-your-face praise songs with an alternative edge."

This album features some of "the greats" - Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Matt Redman and Kristian Stanfill.
Track List:
1.  Salvation's Tide is Rising - Passion featuring Kristian Stanfill
2.  My Victory - Passion featuring Crowder
3.  Remember - Passion featuring Brett Younker & Melodie Malone
4.  God & God Alone - Passion featuring Chris Tomlin
5.  Simple Pursuit - Passion featuring Melodie Malone
6.  I Turn to Christ - Passion featuring Matt Redman
7.  Your Grace Amazes Me - Passion featuring Christy Nockels
8.  All We Sinners - Passion featuring Crowder
9.  Surrender - Passion featuring Jimi Cravity
10. Good Good Father - Passion featuring Kristian Stanfill

One of my favorite songs on the album is the opener, Salvation's Tide is Rising.  I love the music on this one - the instruments and voices sound other-worldy in parts and the words are powerful.  Stanfill does not disappoint  - his lyrics are meaningful and catchy.

Another that I find myself singing often is "Remember" by Brett Younker.  It's upbeat and also just what I need to hear most days lyric-wise.

Don't miss "Your Grace Amazes Me" by Christy Nockels.  This is another song that speaks to me deeply and reminds me of the incredible grace of God.  It's tender and has deep lyrics that challenge me every time I hear it.

The Unmaking

Here is an artist who has stood the test of time.  Nichole Nordeman has been singing for quite some time and yet still produces albums that change and resonate with the times.  Her lyrics are powerful and her songs are upbeat and tender.  Her latest album, The Unmaking, is no exception.  This album has only six songs on it - but don't let that fool you - It's worth every song!  The title track, "The Unmaking", is one of my new favorite songs - the lyrics are powerful and you can be encouraged that God might be "unmaking" us to make us into who He wants.  I love "Not to Us" - the melody and tune are catchy and will stick with me - reminding me that it's not about us.  Another that I enjoyed is "Slow Down" - a tender ballad to our kids asking them to slow down their growing up.  I just loved this album  - make sure to listen!

About the new album The Unmaking:

"Before things in our lives can be resurrected and given new life, certain things must die.  Before beauty blooms in spring, roots must do the hard work under the hard frozen soil of winter.  Before you renovate and re-build, you tear down the parts of the structure that are weak or damaged or dangerous.  Before we make, we must unmake."  Nichole Nordeman

About Nichole Nordeman:

Nichole Nordeman is a recording artist and songwriter for Sparrow/EMI CMG, with numerous number-one and top ten singles to her credit and cumulative CD sales of over one million.  A two-time Gospel Music Association winner for Female Vocalist of the Year, she has won a total of nine Dove Awards, including the best-selling album, Music Inspired by The Story.  Her best-known songs include "Holy", "Legacy", "Brave", "This Mystery", "Why", and "What If".  She lives with her family in Tulsa, OK.

This is Not a Test

If you have not heard Tobymac's latest album  - This Is Not a Test - RUN out to listen!  This is a fabulous upbeat album that captures a wide audience.  In our house - it's enjoyed by adults, teens AND preteens.  I'm not personally a rap fan, but this one switched it up just enough that I enjoyed it.  One of my favorites is "Love Broke Thru" - a catchy and one that runs through my mind often since I've listened to it. I also love "Beyond Me" - a fun song that is being played on our radio station often right now.  And don't miss "Undeniable" - a great reminder that God is beyond what we could ever imagine!  Love it!

About TOBYMAC:
Toby McKeehan(known professionally as TobyMac) is a husband, father, performer, songwriter, producer, and businessman.  Growing up in the northern Virginia suburbs adjacent to Washington D.C. helped instill his love for rap music.  While attending Liberty University during the mid 80s, Toby met Michael Tait and Kevin Max Smith and these three friends formed the Grammy winning, platinum selling group dc Talk.  Toby began his solo career in 1999 with his first solo album, Momentum, releasing in 2001.  Momentum has been followed by four additional studio albums, Welcome to Diverse City (2004), Portable Sounds (2007), Tonight(2010), and Eye On It (2012), along with his first live album, Alive and Transported (2008).  This Is Not A Test is his 6th studio album to be released.  Starting with dc Talk, and then going solo when the group disbanded, Toby still clings to such rootsy notions as hard work, persistence, patience, and - perhaps most relevant of all - the power of music, which he insists is still what keeps him going.  "It's the truth," he says.  "I still believe that a song can penetrate a heart.  I believe God can use a song to open someone's mind and heart."

Plumb CD - Exhale

The new Plumb CD - Exhale - is one that I unabashedly recommend and KNOW it will be enjoyed.  I did not find ONE SONG on the entire album that I did not love.  These songs just sing of hope and thankfulness - you can tell that her life now is one of surrender after her complete brokenness and healing experienced when she wrote a previous song, "Need You Now".  Her sound is strong and full of vibrancy as she pours out her heart through song.  I am thoroughly enjoying this CD as I know you will as well!
